Ablaze: A Fire Cycle tracks one year’s revolution through the Ancient Celtic fire festivals in poetry form.
Starting with the festival of Samhain (the end of the harvest season and the celebration of the dead) and moving through to Winter Solstice (the longest night of the year), Imbolc (the coming of the spring and the celebration of fertility and abundance), Vernal Equinox (the height of springtime), Beltane (the start of summer and a call for protection and prosperity), Summer Solstice (the longest day of the year), Lughnasadh (the start of the harvest, a time for new beginnings), and ending with the Autumnal Equinox (the height of harvest). This poetry collection presents one poem and an accompanying collage for each of the eight fire festivals. A journey to decolonize spirituality and connect with ancestry, this Cycle explores themes from grief to baseball to baking bread.
